Description: A 4-month philanthropic walk from Hong Kong to Beijing became the prism through which writer-director Evans Chan views the cross-currents of a Hong Kong gearing up for the Sino-British handover on July 1, 1997. This humorous, bittersweet and memorable time capsule marks the last leg of a sweeping historical journey that dates back to the Opium Wars.
Speaker: EVANS CHAN (website: Evanschan.com), New York-based critic and filmmaker, won a Golden Plaque at the 2005 Chicago International Television Competition for his TV short ubway, New York.?Chan filmography includes four narrative features (To Liv(e), Crossings, Bauhinia, and The Map of Sex and Love) and five documentaries, including Journey to Beijing, Adeus Macau, and The Life and Times of Wu Zhong Xian.
