Abstract:
Mr Frank Fowlie will examine the state of ODR, and the use of technology platforms as one of the methods to resolve disputes. He will examine some of the opportunities and challenges which may affect the legal profession.
About the speaker:
Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is responsible for the global coordination of the Internet's system of unique identifiers. These include domain names (like .org, .museum and country codes like .UK), as well as the addresses used in a variety of Internet protocols. Mr Fowlie is the inaugural ICANN Ombudsman. He has been the Ombudsman since November 2004. As the Ombudsman for the ICANN, Mr Fowlie has a unique optic on legal disputes, Online Dispute Resolution, and the influence of the internet over the future roles of lawyers and ODR.
