The Death Penalty had been abolished for almost 24 years in HK which was returned to China sovereignty in 1997 with its judicial system remains unchanged. However, there are some countries still complements the Death Penalty for example Sudan, US and White Russia etc. Personally, I think the governments should abolish it，and send the convicts to prison for correction instead. I hope that my words can arouse people’s attention and consider the rationale of not having the penalty.
First of all, I am worried that the Death Penalty will create a vicious circle in the society as the life of the convict will become compensation to the victim, it can be regarded as a kind of revenge. In our early ages，our parents taught us that we need to know the fault we did and learn from mistakes. We all know that everyone will do something wrong and we should be given the chance to turn over a new leaf. Therefore, it is cruel for the governments to carry out Death Penalty, which is an irrevocable punishment for the convicts and make their relatives hostile toward the society. It brings the negative atmosphere for our living place.
Second, we are proud of living in the civilized society in this era so we should adopt an effective and persuasive way to teach the convicts. What I emphasize is that the government should take an alternative measure to teach the convict from a correct mindset and persuade others to believe them and give supports for the released prisoners. That's why the organization is named Correctional Services Department in Hong Kong and its main purpose is teaching and correction rather than punishment. I strongly agree with the Hong Kong government gave it such a meaningful name and the concept should be taken as a reference for abolishing the Death Penalty.
Last but not least, it is common for the public to say the Death Penalty is an inhumane punishment. The reason is that it violates the basic human right which is given by our parents or the god (refer to the western claim) so no one are able to take it away. What's more，it involves the fairness of human. We have the right to live in an equal environment. Without doubt, I can find that the wrong ruling form the court existed before.
The US Supreme Court ruled that Geogle Stinney Jr, who was accused of killing of two girls when he was 14 year old in 1994, was not guilty of the crime in 2014 as there was a lack of enough evidence to prove the incident of murder. Although his sister said the ruling was the belated justice, and his brother didn't survive again. What the pity it is!
In short, I definitely think the Death Penalty should not exist in any countries and it is reasonable for everyone to know what they did wrong even though some people regarded the released prisoners as a menace to everyone and worried that they will commit the crime again but I think it is only the minority and we don't need to over worrisome. Therefore, I hope the Death Penalty should be abolished in any places in the future.
