因為驗毒計的爭議，近日把從朋友處借回來的英國電影〈迷幻列車〉(Trainspotting)，拿出來看。看畢電影，令人最深印象的，倒不是導演對葯物的開放態度，英國人的選擇自由和自主能力，而是電影所透示出的地域階級政治，以及現代社會的偽自由處境。
〈迷幻列車〉的主要場景是蘇格籣的愛丁堡，而隨著男主角Renton洗心革命，到倫敦闖天下，當地產經紀，蘇格籣vs.英格籣的地域階級差異，實在是再明白不過。Renton到倫敦闖天下，只是讓他有機會自泥沼抽身，回頭看清自己以及同鄉兄弟的絶望處境。雖然，Renton與他的同鄉兄弟都曾經為了葯物，而犯上種種微不足道的罪行，但他們大體都不是坏人，而且有情有義，互相照顧。
但當Renton的同鄉兄弟自老遠的愛丁堡前來，逼他一起販毒撈一筆時，他終於梦醒﹕與其與這些沒有希望的同鄉兄弟肝胆相照、有情有義，倒不如伺機獨吞毒金，好找到第一桶金，作為往後"錢生錢"的資本。導演明顯對現代資本主義的運作有一定理解，那就是﹕資本不是由勞力所生，而是由資本所生。結果，有錢的就愈有錢，沒錢的就愈沒有錢，而關鍵就在於第一桶金。
或許，〈迷幻列車〉最叫人倒抽一口涼氣的是，Renton最終還是選擇了某種對他人的不義，來換取自己的未來與希望。而更諷刺的是，Renton一開場通過旁白所否定與肯定的，他最終都推翻了﹕
Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, Choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players, and electrical tin openers.
Choose good health, low cholesterol and dental insurance. Choose fixed- interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends.
Choose leisure wear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suite on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing spirit- crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth.
Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pushing you last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked-up brats you have spawned to replace yourself.
Choose your future. Choose life.
But why would I want to do a thing like that?
I chose not to choose life, I chose something else.
在開場的時候，Renton的選擇是I chose not to choose life, I chose something else。但當他最後擁有了資本、向上流動的希望，之前他否定的一切，霎時間又變成了他所憧憬的美好未來。Renton講得好，I chose not to choose life，因為順著不義的資本主義規則玩，你便擁有了讓你翻身的資本，你就擁有了無盡選擇的偽自由。正所謂﹕殺人放火金腰帶，修橋補路無屍駭。
