To commemorate the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to PRC, Syracuse University Hong Kong and Roundtable Social Science Society are co-organizing an academic conference titled “First Decade and After: New Voices from Hong Kong’s Civil Society”.
Since 1 July 1997, Hong Kong’s civil society has undergone tremendous transformation, in terms of civic issues addressed, patterns of civic participations, and types of civil society organizations, to name just a few. After exactly a decade of Hong Kong’s sovereignty being returned to PRC, we think it is time to examine the ten-year development of Hong Kong’s civil society, with particular attention to the new voices emerged within this period.
