抗議菲律賓政治殺戮 燭光晚會

Invitation to the Migrants Candle Light Vigil against the intensified
political killings in the Philippines.

Dear fellow migrants and human rights advocates,

Greetings!

Another political activist was killed. Mr.Marcus Bangit a member of the regional secretariat of Cordillera Peoples Alliance and the vice chairperson of Bayan Muna in Kalinga province in the Cordillera region was gunned down to death by suspected military men last June 8 in Echague, Isabela Philippines.

Marcus is considered as one of the leaders of the Cordillera movement. He has been an activist since his student days.

Yesterday, another activist was killed by two armed men. The victim was identified as Manny Delos Santos of Alyansa ng Magbubukid ng Gitnang Luzon (Alliance of Central Luzon Farmers, AMGL).

As migrants workers we are very much alarmed of the politically motivated killings that is continuously happening in our country.

In this regard, the Cordillera Alliance in Hong Kong (CORALL), an alliance of different Filipino  migrant organizations from the provinces of Cordillera Region  together with other Filipino migrant organization and institutions will hold a CANDLE LIGHT VIGIL  on June 18, 2006  from 6pm-7:30 pm at the intersection of Chater Road and Ice House Street in Central.

This action is in support of the international campaign to STOP THE KILLINGS IN THE PHILIPPINES, express our condemnation to the perpetrators of the murders of activists and the grave violations of the democratic rights of Filipinos.

We would like to invite your organization to this event. The fight to stop the killings is a a fight of all human rights advocates, civil libertarians, and those working for social justice.

Please reply to this email if you can join. As well, we will do follow up phone calls in the next few days. Thank you very much.

In solidarity,
