加拿大聯邦政府換屆後，終於重開荒廢多年的「人口普查」。
作為七八十年代大批移居加國的港人和後代，面對更多大陸移民抵加，有責任趁著這次普查，告訴聯邦政府「香港族群」的存在。因為這將影響港裔的能見度，更將影響政府的眾多文化語言政策，對下一代港裔在加拿大的生存空間，影響深遠。
所以大家在收到通知書後，請務必要仔細填寫，別不小心地「被中國人」。
最緊要的幾個項目，是「母語」、「第一所學語言」、「可辨識的少數族裔身分」等等，應填上「廣東話」（Cantonese）而非普通話（Chinese）；填「香港人」（HongKonger）而非「中國人」（Chinese）。
