CHRLCG Submission to the UN Committee Against Torture

The People’s Republic of China ratified the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment on 4 October 1988. The United Nations Committee Against Torture (CAT) is going to hold its 41st session for the fourth and fifth periodic reports of the People’s Republic of China on the implementation of the Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment.

During the 41st session, which is being held from 3 November 2008 to 21 November 2008 at the Palais Wilson and Palais de Nations in Geneva, the Committee will consider State reports of Belgium, China, Hong Kong SAR & Macao SAR, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Lithuania, Montenegro, and Serbia. The Committee will consider China’s State report on 7 and 10 November 2008.
