市集的出現，全因為人的聚集，人們居住、生活、買賣，成行成市。能夠成為百年市集，居民生活的聚集和投入成為其維持百年生活的泉源。
中環嘉咸街露天市集包括嘉咸街、卑利街及結志街一帶的街檔與鋪頭。人們在街道中，佈滿色彩繽紛的傘子下的狹小通道內，穿梭買賣，日出日入，構成都市中色彩斑爛的激流。只要有人，街市才活。
《市集人味》是《光影作用》在嘉咸街露天市集的第二期攝影行動。在四月份第一期的《市集人味》攝影行動中，以“取”與“捨”的本質作為一種對市集人與物及拍攝的互動誘因。在現場拍攝的成員不但鼓勵小販使用成員安排的相機為成員拍照及合照，並將所拍得的影像現場打印及互相簽名留念，對市集內的人與物表示尊重。
第二期的《市集人味》把範圍擴大至社區層面。在商販與攝影師的互相尊重關係以外，讓社區所有人見証市集的人性層面。當中包括的人與人之間的關係到以市集為核心所形成的社區，見證居民的活動對社區形成的重要。在現今唯樓價利益是圖的香港重建浪潮下，第二期的《市集人味》攝影展希望能將作品與大眾分享，讓所有人知道我們應該對市民多年以來所建立的社區尊重之重要性。
展覽將會展出多位攝影師在第一期攝影行動中與街坊互動的作品，加上中學生們對市集感覺的作品，透過拼貼把市集的人、事、物拼合成一獨立作品，同場並會各自展出每位攝影師個人對市集的觀感。務求與街坊及觀眾一同分享市集獨有的人物氣息，體驗從人情當中建立的市集原味。

"People in Street Market" Photo Exhibition
Market is a place where people buy and sell. Its existence is based on the lives of people. People gathers, for their living, buy and sell, thus formed a market and people living around. The Central Graham/Peel Street Open Market is developed since a hundred year ago, which is a living history of people’s living in Hong Kong.
Shops, street stalls, residential areas, and recent years’ development of SOHO are all living components of the street market. As people living in the area, the market lives.
People in Street Market photo exhibition is the second phrase of photo action done by Photosynthesis. In the first phrase, Photosynthesis took photos for vendors from the street market as documentary and giving back photos for them as sharing action to show our care and concern for the town plan development related to the street market, which may have irreversible destruction to the historic street market of the district if the government implement. The action of taking and giving back photos to vendors are all for showing our respect to the people living in the market.
In the second phrase of action, members of Photosynthesis show the entire photo works taken from these years in the market, including the phrase one photo action works, in order to share the care and concerns about the development future of the street market with the community in a local style of tea restaurant, for raising more consideration over the issue. With photo wall sharing from secondary students, individual photographers’ installation and photo works, we would like to show our respect to the people in the market, and let the community feel and share the real taste of market, that is the love bounded between people and place.
