因有很多中國artist / overseas artist living in china,
(eg.draw/write/chop-stamp on their skin),
or let them 生活 on the site like in a farm,
or let them 生產/育,
etc and etc,
It's pretty inspiring to see someone who has the courage to challenge the establishment. I didn't see the exhibit but I suspect it resembles a trade show more than an art show.
As far as the pigs are concerned, it would be nice if people could put lipstick on the pigs, too.
This reminds me of a recent youtube video of an act of civil disobedience. When we the outsiders can't change things from the inside, raising awareness in nonviolent ways seems to be the only means to confront the powerful.
而改為permenant stamp chop on pig的話,
(because the artist wants to make the marks on the pig, from it was young/small, to/untill it has grown up becomes big in size, in order to express the artist's meaning of his/this art work), 館/官方不會 ban 而可容許展出!!!
現俾人捉痛腳 (被砌 pig cruelty, then be banned),
LV reached an agreement to bring this show to HK (資料從RTHK work節目)..
no ar~
according to the link u posted that talked abt the art work...it is banned by pig cruelty "surface-ly"...... "China loves its pigs, and Shanghai has said NO to pig cruelty. In latest news, the eight pigs tattooed with Louis Vuitton logoes and other Walt Disney characters — highly controversial works of art by Belgian artist Wim Delvoye — has been banned by the organisers of SHContemporary, the city's largest contemporary art fair. No explicit reason has been given by spokespeople for the ban."http://shanghaiist.com/2008/09/09/tattooed_louis_vuitton_pigs_banned.php
on the other hand, it shouldnt be "uncapable to let animal going into the exhibition", since according to the China contemporary art history, that artists using animal to do art works is began at abt 80's to 90's, and actually the works scales become even larger and start to enter the big art shows, esp after 90's till now. Therefore this is non-sense for using such a reason of the govnt, too.
therefore, i think, whatever it was "animal cruelty" that said by the article / news report link, or was 藹 said "主辦單位話難以安排動物入場", all are govnt's surface reasons only!!
and moreover, it is non-sense for (if) the china govnt saying it is 侵犯 LV logo 知識產權 on this art work, bcoz when the pigs/animal grow, actually the logo patterns are changing too, so it wont be a reasonable reason to ban as "侵犯 LV logo 知識產權" too... as this is my own experience on doing art work / creation.
snufkin:
yes the show is open to public with entrance fee, $30, or student, elderly, handicap, $15.

LV pig in Shanghai exhibition
I think this thead / post
I think this thead / post should be elaborated since it's in the Focus.
Is the link of Jackso broken? or it's just me?
Reply: LV pig in Shanghai exhibition
Beuys the artist rabbit,

this one 騎劫 LV 的,

tattooed pig? what does the
tattooed pig? what does the artist try to express?
the first time I saw the tattooed pigs, I thought they are to mock the LV and the fans
it is of course to mock
or else it won't be banned...
respond to LV PIG ARTWORK

Is this exhibit open to
Is this exhibit open to public? Can we walk in and protest silently with proper banner?
