菜園村有隻貓頭鷹
一日黃昏，
村民在家裡聽到「嘭」一聲，
走過去看看，發現一隻貓頭鷹在地上，
bb來的，好像受了傷，
村民將牠放在籬裡，
待愛護動物協會來帶走。
之後愛護動物協會人員說，
這貓頭鷹是受保護動物，
不知道廣深港高鐵環評報告是不是要改寫呢？

some advice, if i may
you need to call up the SPCA asap and ask what's happened to the owl (though they might refuse to tell you or might just say that it had to be euthanised because they found it to be sick etc., it's better to call and give them pressure)
as for next time (esp. if it's a case with a cat or a dog), it's best to take the animal to a vet yourself. if you don't have the money, you can always fundraise it online (or just send me a PM - i know quite a few animal-loving volunteers who might be able to help)
however, if you have no choice but to call the spca, you should call up the newspapers etc as well because that might (though doesn't always) stop the SPCA from just arbitrarily euthanising the animal
another (better) choice is to call up kadoorie farm 嘉道理農場. They have a number specifically for discovering hurt wild animals but I don't have it at the moment. This is a number I've found online: 2483 7200. I'll let you know as soon as i find the other number.

補充一點,那天愛護動物協會人員說會將貓頭鷹轉交嘉道理農場。
受傷動物
三年前在梅窩有隻自由牛被小型貨車撞傷，有路人慣性反應地即時報警，結果漁農處以極不人性的方式把牛拖走，關在上水狗房等處置－－即如果沒人領養，就會殺左佢；但當我地表示想領養時，又要通過所謂資格審查，要擁有大片私家土地才算夠格，所以牛牛被殺掉的機會很大。最後經過鄰居朋友們一番爭取，才把牛牛帶回來，放到山上與牠原本一群的同伴相聚。
據了解，牛牛在上水狗房時也沒得到什麼醫治。我們傾向認為，動物天生有自己療癒的能力，人也一樣，只不過人已經失去並忘記了這個能力，變得事事依賴科技和權威。如果遇到受傷動物，人類可以做的最好方法，也許是給牠一個安靜而不受打擾的空間，不要隔絕牠與同伴們的聯繫，其餘的就不必過多干預。
不過要做到這一點，前提是要有足夠的自然空間，在城市的環境裡就沒有辦法了。

they said: "As for the owl that was bitten by a dog we have not received it as yet and SPCA have not called about it. It seems likely, therefore, that is has not survived, sorry."
He also said: "Unfortunately some animals do need to be euthanized as they are suffering badly and have major injuries such as compound fractures which they are not going to survive."
but this owl does not look like it was suffering so badly that it would not survive! you said it was even flying! these guys are murderers man!
CALL SPCA NOW. maybe there is still something we can do. tell them we have spoken to kadoorie farm and kadoorie farm said they have not received the owl and ask them why.
I can't call up because I don't know any of the details (where and when exactly it was found and taken away etc.) please call or give me the details so i can call.
貓頭鷹狀況
睇完大家的電郵,
今天兩點幾,
我打電話到愛護動物協會詢問貓頭鷹情況,
接聽的小姐翻查文件,
說已「人道毀滅」了貓頭鷹,
我問為什麼,
她說因為在弄牠的右翼時沒有反應,
我問有沒有核實是什麼品種,
她說沒有,文件上只寫貓頭鷹.
可能如fun所說,
也許應是給牠一個安靜而不受打擾的空間，
慢慢養下傷。

Just found out that
the Kadoorie Wild Animal Rescue Centre 24 hour hotline number is 67139881.
HOWEVER, this hotline number is only intended to provide short term advice from a senior duty officer. Kadoorie Farm does not go out to collect animals; they ask SPCA to do that.
I think in the future, it would be best to take the animal to a nearby vet yourself. But I think even giving the animal some shelter and food and allow it to take time to heal by itself would be better than asking the SPCA to collect it.
物競天澤, 適者生存
面對受傷的雀鳥, 有時很難不去理會, 找SPCA 或 AFCD都是可行的辦法, 不過大家不要忘記物競天澤, 適者生存, 這隻受傷的斑頭鵂鶹, 如果沒有人類的干預, 最終都可能難逃死亡的命運, 但它會成為其他生物的食物, 延續其他生命.

通常做發係直接將受嘗雀仔帶去 Kadoorie. bypass AFCD or SPCA.
好 sad 聽到 SPCA 就咁就"人道"左佢.
我地係米埔遇過做雀鳥調查都有試過捉到 Asian Barred Owlet (即圖中的 Owl), 隻 Owlet 比人捉住時. 係完全"play dead". 點攪都無反應. 直到攪晒所有量度放返佢. 無耐佢就自己飛走.
