The villagers in Shek Kong Choi Yuen Tsuen are suffering from the planning and design of the the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link (XRL).Based on the government’s ordinance, their village will come to an end.

On Valentine's Day, we were accomplished the visit by a group of villagers touring a farm owned by Mr. Lam 30 years ago.
Mr. Lam have lived in his father’s land since he was born.
His father taught him all farming skills and the only skills he earned for living.
For many years, he tried his best to improve their quality of life.
His mother sells the vegetables in the nearby market.
He proudly said he contributes to people in Hong Kong.
He was frustrated by the Government’s Ordinance to terminate the usage of the land.
He said he cannot afford to pay the rent as farming is the only way he can earn money. It is not easy to go through the re-training and redeployment process. If he is moved out from his land, he will become jobless. He insisted he is unwilling to join the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) Scheme.
Mr. Lam showed us his farm.
He through he lives in a place without future.
The reporter ask Mr. Lam “what kind of vegetables is your mother selling, local or imported?”
Mr. Lam replied his mother sells homemade products.
Mr. Lam questioned farm land should be reserved for farmer for living, it is inappropriate to use for rail development.
Mr. Lam questioned again, several years ago, in West rail development project, the Government levied millions acres of land from nearby villagers. The Government repeats the process in Shek Kong. It is not reasonable to levy more than enough farm land for rail development.
Mr. Lam through there will be no local farming products in future. It is not good to people in Hong Kong as well as the framers in New Territories.
He sent a letter to the Government to express his point of views but up to now, there is no reply.
The Reporter asked Mr. Lam “when did you send this letter?”
Mr. Lam replied he marked the date in the letter.
The Reporter showed a copy of the letter.
Mr. Lam expressed that he is still waiting for a reply.
Mr. Lam said, “For 30 years, I followed my father and mother growing vegetables, it not only a job, it is my career.
The Reporter asked, “How many family members did you have?”
Mr. Lam replied he has 3 elder sisters and 1 younger brother.
The Reporter summarized Mr. Lam’s points, “your father and mother brings up 5 children by growing and selling vegetables.
Mr. Lam said, “It is a pity if the Government is not permit farmer to farm in New Territories.”
Mr. Lam expressed that it is a mental impact because he will lose his career.
The Reporter asked, “How did your father and mother feel?”
Mr. Lam said “Both of them oppose the plan. They don’t want a public house. They only need a suitable place to rebuild their home. But, It is not easy to find a suitable place to re-start his career. Some of the nearby places were used by the car trade business. ”
Mr. Lam introduced the products to Reporter. He told the Reporter there are a lot of butterflies appear in the morning. He pointed out the land to be levied and West rail not far away.
Mr. Lam further explained his uncle is running a big bowl feast business, sometimes more than 200 guests join the feast. He tried to point out the place where the Reporter can find a lot of chairs there. He said his uncle his uncle is smart in his career. He through his uncle is not willing to move as well. They both worked together to bloom their businesses. He said the guests not only enjoy the food, but also the beautiful scenery.
